Algae
Chlorella is a genus of single-cell, green algae in the sweet water algae family (Chlorellaceae). It is spherical in shape, about 2-10μm (micrometers) in diameter, and colored green by chlorophyll a and b. The botanical classification is Trebouxiophyceae. In earlier days, Chlorella vulgaris was allocated with other, similar looking algae and classified as Chlorella pyrenoidosa. In 1992 however, scientist showed that Chlorella pyrenoidosa did not exist.
This algae has appetite suppressant properties, due to its high content in dietary fiber and swelling substances. Extensive studies have shown that Chlorella can chelate (bond) and eliminate heavy metals (e.g. Cadmium and Mercury, both of which are contained in amalgamum) which are causes for a plenitude of health issues. Chlorella also regulates the immune system and has shown to be effective in treatment of rheumatoid disorders. Finally, the algae is a source of amino acids, vitamins, minerals and Lutein (a antioxidant). Additional ingredients such as alginine acid and mucilage are effective in regulating body weight (see also Spirulina – and the information about blue-green algae, cyanobacteria).
Take 1-6 capsules daily, with plenty of water.
